Position: Systems Engineer

What we're looking for: We are seeking a strong Systems Engineer to join the ReadyTouch team in developing next generation POS solutions and strategies with an emphasis on resiliency, performance, availability, and stability. The Systems Engineer is responsible for Data Center network routing and switching, Data Center servers and other hardware, and supporting all hosted critical business applications. They will also be responsible for maintaining and administering numerous remote sites where the POS solutions are located, as well as the office network and hardware. The systems engineer will be required to consult with business partners to develop options consistent with standards, recommendations & associated cost benefits, and provide engineering design for implementation. As Systems Engineer, you will support the delivery of POS solutions. From design to operations, you will be responsible for the gathering of system requirements, the development of low-level design documents and the turn up of solutions. You will be required to demonstrate strong skills in the areas of Automation, Communication, Technology, Project Execution, Driving for results and Service Design. You will work alongside software developers to design full service POS systems with varying purposes. You will also work alongside customer support to identify bugs and resolve complex issues. Essential Functions

  • Configure and assist with implementation of hardware, including routers, switches, servers, security appliances, etc.
  • Develop and present system design packages
  • Develop low-level design documentation
  • Plan, design, and implement LAN & WAN, including development of configurations
  • Respond to off-hour system outages and emergencies
  • Troubleshoot, solve, and execute solutions for network and application issues
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network topology, applications details, equipment, and configuration
  • Interact and negotiate with software development team, project managers, and customer support to design and implement solutions
  • Plan and develop business continuity and disaster recovery strategy for critical application recovery
  • Install and maintain production, DR, test, and demo environments
  • Act as primary contact for data center bandwidth, power, space and heat management
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or relateddiscipline or four (4) years equivalent experience preferred, but not required
  • Point of Sale related qualifications preferred, but not required
  • Extensive Linux knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of Fortinet, Juniper or Cisco networking equipment
  • Intermediate technical project management skill and engineering skills
  • Strong network documentation skills and can publish written standards for use by peers
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent customer service focus and analytical problem solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster recovery strategies for testing and verification of technical network solutions established for recovery operations.
  • In-depth hands on experience with routers, switches, and servers
  • Knowledge of IP traffic flow, protocol analysis, capturing and monitoring of live traffic streams.
